Kalmar Launches “Kalmar Tracker Reach Stacker Positioning Aid”

This is an automated container information solution designed for reach stackers, aiming to achieve safer and more effective container movement management.
Kalmar, a pioneer in the field of terminal automation and low-energy container handling, announced the launch of Kalmar Tracker positioning assistance at the “New Era of Logistics” conference a few days ago. This is an automated container information solution designed for reach stackers, aiming to achieve safer and more effective container movement management.

It is understood that manual management of container flow is often time-consuming and error-prone. The Kalmar Tracker positioning assistance solution provides customers with real-time information such as container ID, weight, load center, and location to solve many problems related to container loading and unloading. These data are collected by the system equipment installed on the reach stacker, and provided to customers through the Kalmar Insight remote monitoring system network. Customers can also track the operating data of the fleet.
Kalmar Tracker positioning assistance has the following 3 functions to choose from:

Container ID identification

The high-definition camera installed on the reach stacker can automatically capture the container ID. After these IDs are recorded and registered, they will be displayed in the Kalmar Insight remote monitoring system performance management tool and/or terminal operating system.

Container weighing

The container is automatically weighed and the driver is informed whether it is necessary to adjust the position of the container or whether there is a safety risk in loading and unloading. According to the recommendations of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), the verified total quality data will be applied to the container ID.

Container positioning

The radar system can track the location and stacking position of containers in real time. The system will register the location of each container in the yard, as well as the number of rows and heights of stacking. This function will be launched later. Customers can choose the best combination of functions to meet various business needs.
Alf-Gunnar Karlgren, Kalmar Global Vice President and Head of the Reachstacker and Stacker Business Unit, said: “Kalmar Tracker positioning assistance is the result of our continuous innovation in the field of new tools. It can help customers improve operational safety and efficiency. This The solution can not only reduce the workload of drivers and improve safety, but also help terminal operators simplify the process by providing important data, saving time and costs.”
According to reports, Kalmar provides complete cargo handling solutions and services for terminals, ports, logistics distribution centers and heavy industry customers. One out of every four shipping containers in the world is handled by Kalmar equipment.
