Design And Maintenance Of Slewing Ring Bearings For Port Machinery

In the daily operations of port machinery, it is often due to inadequate maintenance or illegal operations that mechanical equipment malfunctions, especially slewing bearings, because they need to withstand large axial and radial loads and slewing impact loads. Failures will inevitably have an adverse effect on the normal operation of the production line.
The analysis from the aspects of component manufacturing, design, installation, etc. is mainly due to the large errors in the installation accuracy of the slewing bearing of the port machinery, coupled with rough production and assembly defects, which caused local deformation of the raceway during the later operation of the equipment.
Moreover, the rigidity of the connection structure is relatively low, which determines that the slewing bearing becomes the weak position of the rigidity of the entire crane structure. If the rigidity of the upper and lower connection supports is small, deformation problems are prone to occur, affected by abnormal stress, and even structural cracks and periodicity may occur. Elastic deformation problem.
Because of the irregular operation of port machinery and the inadequate maintenance in the later stage, the hidden dangers in the early stage were materialized and the slewing bearing failed. If the connecting bolts of the slewing ring are broken or the connecting structure produces small cracks, it is difficult to be effectively detected in the early stage of operation, and it often exists in the form of hidden faults.
With the extension of the operating time, the degree of failure continues to increase, resulting in deformation and fracture of the overall supporting structure. In addition, the slewing bearing has poor running-in and excessive friction between components, which intensifies the load on the supporting components, and long-term overload operation causes excessive wear of the components and failures.
